Yang Jin-hu

Yan Jin-hu was born in1897 in Bajia Village (now BajiaVillage) and showed great talent when he was young, and he was strong. After graduating from Taipei Medical School (forerunner of the School of Medicine, National Taiwan University), he began practice in what is today's Hunei District, Kaohsiung City. After completing further studies in Japan, he returned to Kaohsiung and established the "Renhe Hospital", the Kaohsiung City Medical Association, and the Tainan Compatriot Association. In 1968 he became Kaohsiung mayor. His life was legendary.

Chen Jin-fang

Chen Jin-fang was born in 1936 and won a scholarship from the French government in 1963 to study in France. He earned a master's degree in modern literature and a doctorate in art history from La Sorbonne (University of Paris IV).While still attending La Sorbonne, he established the "five-dimensional universal culture" theory to guide global renaissance and initiated the "neo-iconography" art style. He has been a jury member of worldwide art events and the chairperson of AAI's Fine Arts Section. His works have been displayed in Europe, the USA, and Taiwan for over one hundred exhibitions and are wildly collected by worldwide museums. Chen is recognized as a "pioneer of post-modern art" and "one of the 20 most influential artists in the world today."

Lin Jhih-sin

Lin Jhih-sin

Lin Jhih-sin is an internationally renowned print artist from Gueiren, a "rarity" born in one of our red-tile-roofed houses, and a man of whom we are very proud. Apart from being the world's biggest print ever made, his Welcoming Mazu (1995) started a new trend in Taiwan's printmaking circle. Today, the Koji ceramics from the Lin's Workshop are world-class works.

Chen Si

Chen Si

Chen Si was a village chief during Japanese colonization. In postwar Taiwan, he was the first chief of Damiao Village (Damiao Village today). As a man with exemplary conduct and nobility of character, he set a clean example for modern society.



 
Lin Rong-de

Lin Rong-de

Lin Rong-de was born in Gueiren and devoted himself to the gathering of Taiwanese rhymes and folk songs. Apart from composition and transcription, he published the Guzideng, a collection of Taiwanese rhymes and ensemble music with Ms. G. Keetmsn, an ORFF authority.

During 1970-71, Lin reached the peak of his creation of oil paintings. In just three months, he made nearly 100 paintings. Artist Liou Wun-san once said, "Lin expresses music with painting," a very good comment according to Lin.

Besides being a musician, Lin is an educator. In addition, he and his mother, Ms. Lin Li Sie-liou, are great painters in the fine arts world. Apart from publishing Taiwan (g) Taiwan: Lin Li Sie-liou Painting Album, Lin and his mother have published Hongwacuo: Lin Li Sie-liou and Lin Rong-de Painting Album.
